Safety Critical Automotive Brake Component
An OEM automotive brake component was recently designed from the drawing stage via our customer to a finished component. This component was originally formed by traditional metal pressing but was redesigned to be fine blanked incorporating a reduction in component size and material usage cost. MTS were able to advise material selection and determine an appropriate heat treatment process to produce a cost effective outcome to the end user.
Railcar Engine Mount Component
Recently a heat treated rail component suffered field failures and was brought to MTS to determine cause and to recommend an appropriate course of action. Upon evaluation by it was determined that the main cause of failure had been the core strength of the material used did not have the appropriate shear strength in its application. MTS recommended a more suitable material and upgraded the heat treatment requirements to produce a more satisfactory outcome for the end customer.
